Welcome
This blog is for those visitors who have come across the site from recent articles in the press. Welcome!
A brief overview of the site’s purpose is to act as a centre for discussion on the idea of being a ‘rebel in a business suit’ - a business person who looks like other business people, acts like other business people but doesn’t think like other business people.
There is a change in values happening at present - not just in business but in society itself and (for some of us) we are at the middle of that change, struggling with how we can live with these new values emerging within ourselves and causing us to question the traditional views and approaches of business, our career and our lives.
My twelve years of work as a workshop leader and executive coach has shown me that there is an increasing search for the spiritual or what I term ’spirit-centredness’ in business leaders - a search for our true natures, our purpose and passion - so that we can start to walk the path of being authentic to ourselves, the people around us and re-empassion our work and our lives. I want to cover this quest on the site.
The site is also an experiment in collaborative writing. I want to write this new book ‘Rebel in a Business Suit’ with the assistance of those who visit the site.
Currently you’ll find two chapters on the site for your perusal. They are for consideration, review and comment - by means of the comments of contributors things can be further clarified, dropped or added to - so that as more chapters are added - and with the right kind of feedback - we can together create a book that represents the path that we new rebels are following by March 0f 2008. Then the book will be available to download for free off the site.
The site is also a portal towards a Fellowship or Community of rebels who want to pursue the path in the company of like-minded people. Currently we have created Rebel Island a unique virtual location and networking site for those of us who wish to explore this change of values and of Ages.
This site consists of a personal web page for a member’s blog, audio or video that they want to post detailing their challenges and journey towards spirit-centredness. It will also carry 52-weekly Rebel Secrets that will aid the traveller on their journey. A Rebel Council will consist of thought-leaders in this area who will post their own blogs and thoughts on the site, contribute to webinars for members and provide workshops in the form of Rebel Retreats.
The site is a secure one and open only to members. We also expect to have a Rebel ‘Gathering’ once a year where workshops, discussion groups and networking can happen (and have a little ‘rebel’ fun!).
In addition, members can choose their own Rebel Name and, through an avatar, join the island community on a virtual island on Second Life - where they can sit in and take webinars, meet and converse with other members, attend workshops and even have private meetings.
Membership is by invitation and you can request an invite or be referred. So that we can get to know you and ensure that this is right for you, we will also give you a call for a chat as to why you might like to join the community.
I hope that this has explained our aims and objectives and that you might consider joining your ‘brothers and sisters’ on this quest for our authentic selves.
